Autumn is a time for outdoor fun including leaf peeping, apple picking, pumpkin carving, fall festivals, beer gardens and corn mazes at local farms. No quintessential New England Fall is complete without at least a few of these activities.
Spend a perfect fall weekend experiencing all our community and regional offerings including our Burlington Beer Gardens, leaf peeping at Horn Pond or Mill Pond Reservation, or set out to explore neighboring communities where you may choose to pick apples, carve pumpkins or take part in some traditional fall fun.
Burlington Beer Gardens
Join us at the Town Center Beer Gardens and Local Business Fest every Thursday in September again this year. Last year over 1200 residents enjoyed this fall fest.
Starting on Thursday, September 5, several New England-based breweries will be on location at the Town Center serving their specialty beverages along with a variety of non-alcohol options from 4:30 pm-8:30 pm.
Some of the breweries include Start Line Brewing and Redemption Rock Brewing (Sept 5 & 19) as well as Arlington Brewing Company (Sept 12 & 26). Food vendors will be announced closer to the dates giving Burlington residents a chance to purchase food, enjoy a beer and gather with friends and family.
The Circus Is Coming to Town!
Head to Burlington Mall from Sept 6th to the 17th to experience the joy and excitement of Fl!p Circus. For 50 years, the Vazquez Family has been entertaining audiences with their “modern, yet vintage” feeling circus performances. Enjoy stunts, death-defying acts, unicycles, and all that makes the circus a lasting memory!

Leaf Peeping
Take the short trip to Horn Pond where you can enjoy hiking or biking or head to Mill Pond Reservation to explore nature and take in the changing leaves as September turns to October.
You don’t have to travel to northern New England to enjoy the spectacular show that Mother Nature puts on every Autumn. Check out the changing leaves in Burlington’s Horn Pond or Mill Pond areas with your family, friends, and favorite fur friend (on leash). The child-friendly trail at Mill Pond is a two-mile loop that is great for beginners and is the perfect place to take in nature.
Harvest Fun
If you have your sights set on apple picking or selecting the perfect pumpkin for carving, there are several options right near Burlington. Neighboring farms include Drews Farm in Westford, Smolak Farm or Boston Hill Farm in North Andover, Verrill Farm or Marshall Farm in Concord, or The Farm in Winchester. Experience pick-your-own activities, hayrides, farm animals and so much more as we welcome fall to New England.
If getting lost in a corn maze is more your speed, explore Marini Farm in Ipswich, MA, approximately 40 minutes from Burlington or Connors Farm in Danvers, MA, approximately 20 minutes from Burlington. Both Farms have a large amount of fall activities that encourage outdoor play, jumping, running, riding and tasting of all things autumn. Don’t forget to bring some cider donuts home with you!
Fall Festivals
If you enjoy homemade crafts, fall foods, games, prizes, and farmers markets all while being outdoors, these fall festivals in nearby communities should be on your list of things to do.
Fall Fest on Middlesex Ave in Wilmington, MA is being held this year on September 28, 2024. The North Andover Fall Festival is set for September 21 at North Andover High School on Osgood Street and the Castleberry Fall Craft Festival is being held at the Shriners Auditorium on October 26 in Wilmington, MA.
