The seasons are changing and that means Burlington has a new series of activities and events for families and residents who want to explore our beautiful town. From Beer Gardens every Thursday to the 4th annual Trucktober/Power Wheels Derby at the beginning of October, Burlington has something for everyone.

Let’s explore some of the fall events and activities offered in Burlington, from outdoor and nature exploration to fun family events.

Burlington Beer Garden

Back by popular demand this September is the weekly Beer Garden held in the Pocket Park near the Town Common.

Held every Thursday throughout September from 4:30-8:30 pm, Burlington residents can enjoy this fun, family- and dog-friendly community event. Listen to live music, taste some local food and brews, and connect with other members of the community, including local businesses.

One of Burlington’s newest art initiatives, the Burlington Micro Gallery, will be on hand for exploration and education about art and exhibitions being held regularly.

Municipal Truck Day

If you (or your children) love big trucks and want to experience them up close, Municipal Truck Day is the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. On Sunday, September 14, from 10 am to 2 pm. We invite you to come check out the big trucks, hear the sirens and honk those big rig horns on the Town Common!

For families seeking a sensory-friendly experience, Sensory Friendly Truck Day is scheduled for Friday, September 12, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Trucktober

Trucktober/Power Wheels Derby

Celebrating its fourth year in Burlington is the much-anticipated Trucktober/Power Wheels Derby, scheduled for October 4, 2025, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Town Common.

Trucktober features a whole afternoon of enjoying local food trucks with varied cuisines, live music, and more. We will also have our 4th annual Power Wheel Derby! In this Derby, kids ages 2 – 8 will bring their own battery-powered power wheel vehicle and race down Center Street. The Power Wheel Derby is for Burlington residents only and preregistration is required. Derby schedule and more information regarding the Derby will be emailed out the week leading up to the event. To register, visit the Burlington Parks and Recreation special events page in the Fall 2025 Brochure online.

Get Outdoors

Autumn is the ideal time to explore Burlington’s many outdoor spaces, including parks, nature trails and picnicking destinations. There are several options in Burlington to get outside and enjoy the crisp fall weather before New England winter descends upon us.

Enjoy Mary Cummings Park, where you can enjoy the scenery, take a walk or relax and have a fall picnic. Or you can take to the woods, such as at the Landlocked Forest, where you can find miles of easy-to-navigate trails for you and your family.
