BURLINGTON, MA — The Town of Burlington is pleased to announce that Congressman Seth Moulton has secured $1 million in federal funding for Burlington to improve safety and strengthen bicycle and pedestrian connections through the Mall Road and Middlesex Turnpike areas.
The funding was included as part of FY2026 Appropriations, which were recently signed into law. Congressman Moulton announced that he secured $13.2 million for 14 community improvement projects across the Sixth District this year.
In Burlington, the $1 million award will help advance improvements to make it safer and easier for residents, employees, and visitors to move through the commercial district on foot and by bike, particularly as the area continues to evolve toward a more mixed-use future. Congressman Moulton shared his support saying, “Burlington is home to nearly 50,000 jobs, but getting around without a car remains far too difficult. This community deserves infrastructure that reflects the needs of its people, and I’m proud to help deliver this funding to lay the groundwork for a transformational project that connects workers, residents, and visitors in a safer and more sustainable way. I look forward to seeing this project take shape.”
“This funding is an important investment in Burlington’s future,” said Town Administrator, John Danizo. “As we look to the future we want to enhance Burlington’s livability, part of that is investing in safer and better-connected streets that work for everyone. This funding will help us move that work forward.”
Burlington’s commercial district is a major economic engine for the region and is increasingly the focus of planning efforts to support reinvestment, transportation choice, and a more connected built environment. This funding will help the Town continue advancing infrastructure improvements that support those goals while improving public safety.
“This investment supports the kind of long-term planning Burlington is actively undertaking in its commercial corridors,” said Director of Economic Development, Melisa Tintocalis. “Safer bicycle and pedestrian connections are important not only for mobility, but also for supporting a more accessible and vibrant district over time.”
The Town thanks Congressman Moulton for his support and advocacy on behalf of Burlington and the Sixth District
