Scientific Systems

Background on Scientific Systems

For the past three decades, Scientific Systems has harnessed the power of digital engineering to innovate AI-powered solutions tasked with the mission of supporting and protecting American values and freedoms both at home and abroad. The national defense software firm is recognized as an industry leader in AI-powered autonomy and cutting-edge technology on the battlefield and beyond.

In today’s technologically advanced world, it is more important than ever that the American military maintains its dominance in multi-domain battlespaces including land, maritime, space, cyberspace, and aerospace. Over the past 30 years, Scientific Systems has supported the US military, DARPA, NASA, and other agencies in staying ahead of adversaries in a way that allows the United States to meet the demands of modern warfare.

The technology developed at Scientific Systems allows for the integration of disparate systems into a unified force thus simplifying and improving the speed of navigation, collaboration and the execution of cross-domain missions.

Teams of scientists and engineers at Scientific Systems are driven by the mission to shorten operational timelines and enhance outcomes in challenging environments. Experts work with both crewed and uncrewed platforms to develop AI-powered solutions that allow technology to navigate safely in multiple and often challenging terrains, collaborate seamlessly, and execute cross-domain missions in the air, space, cyberspace, maritime and by land.

In The News

Scientific Systems is often in the news for its outstanding contributions to the nation’s defense. Recently, the company was lauded for its groundbreaking research that pairs cutting-edge autonomy with search and rescue dogs. In a fall 2024 training exercise, Scientific Systems demonstrated artificial intelligence software that enables robotic teammates to understand the animal’s search response behaviors and accurately predict the location of a lost victim. This innovation and combining of AI power with canine power is a first-of-its-kind and represents a breakthrough in teaming capabilities pairing autonomous systems with living teammates.

Other advancements in the past year include the announcement of ImageNav™, an image-based navigation software designed for use in environments where GPS signals are compromised. This advancement allows for precise navigation of aircraft, weapons, and uncrewed aircraft systems without reliance on GPS.
