A familiar property along Middlesex Turnpike could soon look a little different.

At Town Meeting a few weeks ago, members approved rezoning 49 Middlesex Turnpike, currently home to Ned’s Towing, from General Industrial to General Business. The property owner requested the change, which brings the parcel in line with the zoning of surrounding properties.

Ned’s Towing plans to relocate, with a retail jewelry store proposed for the site. The zoning change clears the way for the property’s next use as plans move forward. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!

What could the future of Middlesex Turnpike look like?

Burlington’s Economic Development Office is excited to share the Middlesex Turnpike Conceptual Corridor Plan. It’s a new interactive Story Map developed with our transportation consultants at VHB.

Made possible through a MassWorks award, the plan looks 10 to 15 years ahead at a 1.5-mile stretch of one of Burlington’s busiest commercial corridors, where more than 24,000 vehicles travel each day.

The goal is to explore how Middlesex Turnpike can evolve into a safer, more connected and vibrant corridor that better serves businesses, employees, residents and visitors, while creating more options for how people get around.

And this isn’t a plan you have to read cover to cover. The interactive Story Map brings the work to life through maps, renderings, proposed concepts and the feedback that helped shape the vision.
